What a New Shower Really Costs in the Poconos (2026 Prices)
Most bath companies won't put a price on their website. They want you to book a visit first. We think that wastes your time and ours, so here are our real numbers.
Short answer: most of our tub-to-shower conversions and shower replacements cost between $12,000 and $25,000. Where you land in that range depends on size, plumbing and the options you pick.
Our starting prices
- Tub-to-shower conversion: from $12,500
- Shower or tub replacement: from $12,500
- Curbless (zero-step) accessible shower: from $16,500
"From" means a standard-size space with no major plumbing changes. That is the starting point for most jobs we quote.
What is included at that price
- Full tear-out of the old tub or shower, down to the studs. We don't install a liner over what's there.
- A moisture and damage check once the walls are open.
- A BestBath base and wall system, made in the USA. The walls are gelcoat over a laminated wood core, with no grout lines.
- New valve and trim.
- Haul-away and cleanup.
- A workmanship warranty that matches BestBath's manufacturer warranty, currently 30 years.
What pushes the price up
- Size. A 60-inch alcove is the baseline. Larger walk-in showers cost more.
- Moving plumbing. Relocating the drain or the valve adds labor.
- Accessibility. Curbless bases, built-in or fold-down seats and grab bars add cost, and they are worth it if you plan to stay in your home.
- Glass doors and upgrades. Glass doors, extra shelving and upgraded fixtures all add up.
- Hidden damage. In about 1 in 4 older tub and shower tear-outs, we find water damage behind the walls: mold, or rotted subfloor or joists. We fix it before the new shower goes in, and only with your approval. More on that in What we find under old tubs.
What brings it down
- Keeping the drain and valve where they are.
- A standard size and a simple finish.
- Choosing a curbed base instead of curbless, when you don't need zero-step entry.
Why cheaper quotes exist
You will see lower prices, sometimes much lower. They usually come from one of three things:
- A liner over your old tub instead of a tear-out. It's faster and cheaper, but nobody sees what's behind the wall.
- Thinner materials and shorter warranties.
- A low starting number that climbs with every option at the kitchen table.
None of these is automatically wrong for every house. Just make sure you are comparing the same scope. Our 9 questions to ask any installer will help.
